8 Foods to Juice That Will Cleanse Your Liver

The liver is your body’s ultimate detox organ. When you detox the liver, it rids your body of fats, toxins from the environment and foods, drug residues and much more.  Really, there is probably little else that you can do that will have a greater impact on your overall health!  Here are 8 foods you can juice to detox your liver and ensure that it is operating in tip-top condition:

Dark Leafy Greens

Leafy greens like kale, cabbage, collards, and brussels sprouts are sulfur-rich and support the liver’s detoxification process. Greens are loaded with chlorophyll and help absorb environmental toxins; they neutralize heavy metals, chemicals and pesticides, which reduces the burden on your liver. Don’t forget to include dandelion greens in your juices! They are powerful liver detoxifiers that stimulate the digestive system, help transport toxins out of the body, balance gut flora, and soothe the digestive tract.

Cruciferous veggies

Veggies like broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower are excellent for juicing and contain vital phytonutrients that help your liver neutralize chemicals, pesticides, drugs, and carcinogens.

Garlic
You may have never thought about juicing a clove or two of garlic, but you should!  Garlic is an ancient medicinal food that contains allicin, a critical supporter of liver detoxification. It helps your liver rid the body of poisons like mercury and toxins like food additives. Garlic is also antibacterial, antiviral and can reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Berries

Who doesn’t love berries?  Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and cranberries are superfoods that contain plant compounds to help your liver protect your body from free radicals and oxidative stress.

Ginger
Ginger is loaded with antioxidants that are anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antimicrobial. Ginger supports detoxification by nourishing your liver, promoting circulation, unclogging blocked arteries, and lowering blood cholesterol.

Turmeric
Curcumin, the key compound in turmeric has been shown to heal your liver, fight inflammation, and help detox the liver by assisting enzymes that actively flush out toxins.

Beets

Beets stimulate and improve overall liver function. They support the body’s detoxification process by binding broken down toxins to other molecules for easy removal from the body.  Beets also help purify the blood.

Citrus Fruits

Lemons, Limes, and grapefruit are high in vitamin C; they help stimulate the liver and break down toxic materials.  Lemons assist in cleansing the body of impurities and are a solvent for uric acid and other poisons.   Grapefruit boosts production of the liver detoxification enzymes and increases the natural cleansing processes that help flush out carcinogens and other toxins.
